BW Women’s Swimming and Diving Drop Meet to Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team opened its 2014-2015 Ohio Athletic Conference home schedule with a 139-77 loss to the University of Mount Union in the BW Natatorium in the Lou Higgins Center.

The Yellow Jacket women (4-3, 1-1 OAC) were led by junior Academic All-OAC swimmer Chandler Ashbaugh (Napoleon) who won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.17, placed third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:32.72 and swam on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team in 1:46.50.

Also recording first place finishes were senior, Olivia Vocke (Napoleon) in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:44.54, freshman Jordyn Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./ Pioneer) in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.27 and junior Contessa Elliott (Ypsilanti, Mich) who won the 1-meter optional diving event with 174.15 points. Joining Ashbaugh on the winning 200-yard free relay team were Miller, freshman Courtney Severns (Bucyrus) and All-OAC competitor senior Kayla Eyster (Canton, Mich./Plymouth-Canton).  

In addition, senior Academic All-OAC swimmer Emily Payne (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) was second in the 200 breaststroke in and third in the 1-meter optional diving event with 94.00 points. Eyster also was second in the 1000 free in 11:50.89.  

The Yellow Jackets remain at home and host Hiram College in a non-conference dual meet on Saturday, November 22 at 1 p.m. in the BW Natatorium.
