BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team faced Grove City (Pa.) College in the season opener for a non-conference contest on the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium. The Yellow Jackets (1-0) outscored the Wolverines (0-1) 9-2 in the second half to earn the big season-opening win by a 14-7 final score.
BW was led by freshman midfielder Clare Alic (Carmel, Ind. / Guerin Catholic) as she finished with a team-high five goals in the first game of her collegiate career. Also leading the offense was freshman attack Emma Northrup (Hudson), as she notched four goals in her first collegiate start. Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference defender Lauren Comack (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) led the defense with seven caused turnovers while notching four ground balls.
