Five Softball Players Hit onto Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Five Baldwin Wallace University softball student-athletes have been selected to the 2020 Spring Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Sophomore outfielder Amanda Crisler (Lorain/Amherst), senior second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon), sophomore third baseman Kami Helm (Uniontown/Green), sophomore pitcher Emily Lesco (Wickliffe) and senior infielder Shelby Sprouse (Granville) are five of 45 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this spring.

Crisler, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade is an early childhood education major that carries a 3.869 GPA.  She is a Dean's List student. Crisler appeared in five games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. For her career, Crisler has appeared in 29 games and has recorded nine runs scored, three walks, one run batted-in (RBI) one outfield assist.

Kozich, who earns her third career Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy, pre-allied health and exercise science triple major that carries a 3.989 GPA.  She is a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District 7 selection, Dean's List Student and Jacket Scholar. The 2020 team captain and All-OAC and National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region selection appeared in all eight games before the season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  Kozich has appeared in 121 career games with a .309 batting average.  She has recorded 114 hits, 70 runs scored, 55 runs batted-in (RBIs), 24 stolen bases, 23 doubles, 20 walks, six triples, three homeruns, one grand slam and one inside the park homerun. Kozich has tallied a .979 fielding percentage with 234 putouts and 146 assists.

Helm, who garners her first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a biology major that carries a 3.764 GPA.  She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar.  Helm appeared in five games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  For her career, Helm has appeared in 48 games and has a .287 batting average.  She has tallied 35 hits, 17 runs scored, 15 runs batted-in (RBIs), nine walks, four doubles and one triple.  Helm has a .910 career fielding percentage with 47 assists at the hot corner along with 34 putouts.

Lesco, who earns her first Academic All-0AC honor, is a public health major that carries a 3.704 GPA.  She is a Dean's List student.  In her first season, Lesco appeared in game two games and 2.1 innings in the circle before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Sprouse, who garners her second career Academic All-OAC honor, is a that carries a 3.65 GPA.  She is a Dean's List student. spring.  Sprouse, who transferred to BW in the spring of 2018, appeared in in five games, including starting the final two before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  She appeared in 15 career games and recorded 10 runs batted-in (RBIs), seven hits, two triples, one double and one walk.  Sprouse had a .930 fielding percentage with 31 putouts and three assists.  Off the field, she is a student-assistant in the Office of Athletic Communications.
