Polifrone Headlines Men's Tennis All-OAC Selections

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio- Junior Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) headlines the Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections after being named OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year and earning his third consecutive all-conference honor.

Along with Polifrone, junior Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) was tabbed to the second team and sophomore Jake Elbin (Findlay) earned an honorable mention selection.

Polifrone earned his third consecutive conference selection and his first Player of the Year honor after leading the Jackets with a 21-5 singles record (17 wins at No. 1) and compiling a 20-6 mark in doubles action. Throughout his career, he has recorded 63 wins in both singles and doubles, which is 17th and tied for 16th all-time, respectively. He has received the BW Academic Excellence Award two years in a row for the highest GPA on the team, has been named an Academic All-OAC selection and is a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete. Additionally, the junior has earned two OAC Men's Player of the Week accolades throughout his three years. His 24-3 singles record in 2015 ranks tied for 10th all-time for wins in a season and his 24 double wins in 2015 ranks fifth all-time for doubles wins in a season.

Harris earns his second straight all-conference honor after being tabbed as an honorable mention selection last season. He posted a 14-9 record in singles play, including a 12-5 mark at second singles. In doubles action, he was able to record a 19-6 slate, including 16 wins at first doubles. Harris is an Academic All-OAC selection and has been named as an ITA Scholar Athlete twice. In his three-year Yellow Jacket career, the junior has complied a singles record of 37-14 and is tied for 23rd all-time with 56 doubles wins.  

Elbin earns his first all-conference honor after a solid sophomore campaign. He was second on the squad with a career-high 18 singles wins, posting a 13-4 mark at third singles, and putting together an 11-11 slate in doubles action. As a freshman last season, Elbin was named an ITA Scholar Athlete. For his career, the sophomore has registered a singles record of 32-8 and a doubles record of 26-16.

BW posted a 15-5 overall record during the 2017-2018 season. The team posted a 5-3 conference record and advanced to the OAC semifinals.
