Three Men's Tennis Athletes Garner Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio- Three Baldwin Wallace University Men's Tennis student-athletes have been selected to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Junior All-OAC player Dominic Polifrone (Hudson), junior All-OAC player Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) and junior Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) were three of the 41 student-athletes honored.

Polifrone, who earns his second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.86 grade point average. The junior is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies. He is a two-time recipient of the BW Academic Excellence Award for the highest GPA on team and was named as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete last year. This season, Polifrone was named the OAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year after compiling an overall singles record of 21-5 and an overall doubles record of 20-6. His 24-3 singles record in 2015 ranks tied for 10th all-time for wins in a season and his 24 double wins in 2015 ranks fifth all-time for doubles wins in a season.

Harris, earning his second career Academic All-OAC accolade, is a marketing and film studies double major who carries a 3.78 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Alpha Lambda, Dayton C. Miller and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries and an ITA Scholar Athlete. In the 2017-2018 season, the junior tallied a 14-9 singles record, including a 12-5 mark at second singles. In doubles action, he registered a 19-6 overall record, with 16 of those wins coming at first doubles. His 56 career doubles victories has him tied for 23rd all-time in program history.

Boyer, who garners his first career Academic All-OAC honor, is a sport management and business administration double major who carries a 3.50 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and an ITA Scholar Athlete. During this season, the junior won a career-high 11 single matches and posted a 14-7 record in doubles action, including an 11-6 slate at third doubles.
