BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team could not find an answer to the high-powered offense of Heidelberg University, falling in Ohio Athletic Conference action 6-2.

Heidelberg (10-2-1, 3-2-1 OAC) dominated possession at the beginning of the game and attacked the Yellow Jacket back line, trying to expose a weakness. The Student Princes took a corner kick and a shot and had an offside call before the Yellow Jackets (5-9-2, 1-4-1 OAC) were able to work the ball down the field. Sophomore All-OAC forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) got BW its first look at goal in the seventh minute when his shot was blocked.

Student Prince freshman midfielder Leo Robles opened up the scoring with a goal just inside the 10th minute off an assist from freshman forward Jarod Chavez.

Following the Heidelberg goal, each team took two more shots before Ruple evened up the score in the 21st minute. Freshman midfielder Bryce Posner (Aurora) was credited with his third assist of the season when he brought a ball down off his chest and sent it to Ruple who found the back of the net for the 17th time this season. His goal set a BW record for the most goals in a single season.  He also extended his BW single-season and OAC-leading points scored mark to 40.

Malachi Aston helped the Heidelberg regain the lead in 39th minute, a lead they would not relinquish.

Coming out of the locker room at halftime, Rodrigo Mesa gave his team a two-goal lead in the 52nd minute. Two more Heidelberg goals scored in the 63rd and 64th minute, respectively, stole any momentum the Yellow Jackets might have had in the second half while Alston capped off the Student Princes' scoring in the 74th minute with a hat trick.

With the final seconds ticking away, sophomore midfielder Timmy Jonas (Fairview Park/St. Edward) played the ball into Posner, who finished off the scoring by ripping the ball into the back of the net for his third goal of the season and Jonas's eighth assist, which is tied for second in the OAC.

BW will seek its second OAC win of the season when it takes on league-leading Otterbein University on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.
