BEREA, Ohio – Celebrating Senior Night in the season finale, the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell to Capital University 3-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Before the game started, the team took the time to honor the commitment and dedication shown by the two seniors, goalkeeper Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/Turpin) and David Elsen (Cleves/St. Xavier). The seniors were joined on the field by their parents, surrounded by their teammates, and were recognized for the performance and effort given over the last four years.

Despite the chilling temperatures, both teams had scoring opportunities early. Capital (11-6-1, 6-2-1 OAC) got off its first shot wide just over a minute into the game while BW (5-12-2, 1-7-1 OAC) answered with shots by junior Academic All-OAC midfielder Jeremy Foust (Strongsville) and freshman forward Michael Snowball (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel). Capital's Jamie Robson broke the stalemate in the 20th minute and gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.

Capital would maintain that one-goal lead until halftime even though the Yellow Jackets outshot the Crusaders eight to three in the half.

The Yellow Jackets opened up the second half with quick shots by sophomore forward Cannon Dees (Berea/Berea-Midpark) and sophomore All-OAC forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) before Snowball evened up the game at one apiece with an assist from Ruple in the 48th minute. The Crusdars retook the lead in the 60th minute with a goal from Chewy Gordon, a lead they would not relinquish. Gordon only added to Capital's lead with his second goal of the night in the 81st minute.

BW held the statistical advantage in the game, outshooting the Crusaders 21 to nine and put six shots on goal to Capital's four.

While the Yellow Jackets season comes to an end, the Crusaders move on into the OAC Tournament Quarterfinals having clinched the No. 3 seed.

BW will return a core group of experienced players next season and will look to compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2018.
