Men's Soccer Drops Consolation Game

ERIE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team was edged out 1-0 by DeSales (Pa.) University in the consolation game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament hosted by Penn State Behrend College.

DeSales (1-1) took nine shots in the game compared to the Yellow Jackets' (0-2) seven.  Two of BW's seven shots came in the first five minutes when freshman midfielder Bryce Posner (Aurora) had a shot that went wide in the third minute and junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference defender Jeremy Foust (Strongsville) had his shot saved by goalie Dan Sulpizio.

The Bulldogs scored the only goal of the game came in the 40th minute when freshman Chris Tocchet scored a one-touch goal off a cross from the right side from senior midfielder Charlie Jerry.

In goal, senior Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/Turpin) only faced five shots on goal, making four saves, which is a credit to the Yellow Jacket back line of junior JT Taubeneck (Parma/Normandy), junior Garrett McCue (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais Community), senior David Elsen (Cleves/St. Xavier) and sophomore Jake Woodruff (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin) who kept DeSales from having more scoring opportunities.

BW will be back in action for the 28th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic hosted by Centre (Ky.) College September 8-9. The Yellow Jackets will take on host Centre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Spalding (Ky.) University at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
