BW Men's Soccer Team Loses at Allegheny (Pa.)

MEADVILLE, Pa. --  The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team dropped its match to non-league foe Allegheny College (Pa.), 2-1, on Tuesday evening at Frank B. Fuhrer Field. The loss was BW's fifth straight.

BW (1-6) scored the first points of the match at the 22:42 mark.  Junior midfielder Zach Smith (Parma/ Normandy) blasted his first goal of the season from 15 yards out in the upper left corner of the net.

Allegheny College (3-3-1) answered back with two goals, both scored by sophomore midfielder Scott Powell, to give the Gators a 2-1 lead in the first stanza.   Allegheny's Izaak Miller was credited on the assist on Powell's first goal.  Both BW goalkeeper and freshman Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/ Turpin) and Allegheny netminder Jake Pugliese had three saves in the first half.  The Yellow Jackets attempted six shots and had four shots on goal. 

In the second half,  neither team was able to find the back of the net, and Allegheny managed to hold on to a  2-1 victory.  Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Gators, 13-10. BW had seven shots on goal to Allegheny's six.  Asbury saved four shots in the goal.

The Yellow Jackets will return home to play their home-opener against No. 7-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University this Saturday, September 20 on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
