AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse freshman goalkeeper Joe Storner (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his young career.

Getting his first taste of collegiate action this week, Storner led BW in between the pipes for its first two victories of the year. The freshman made his first collegiate start in a snowy non-conference home contest against Allegheny (Pa.) College on Wednesday, where he stopped 13 of 20 total shots faced and picked up a career-high six ground balls, on route to a 9-7 win. Storner was victorious once again on Saturday, as the Yellow Jackets travelled to Grove City, Pa. for a non-conference game against Grove City (Pa.) College. He made a career-best 16 saves on 24 shots encountered and corralled two ground balls, helping BW earn its first road win of the campaign.

Storner currently boasts a 69.1 save percentage and 7.29 goals against average this season; good enough for first and third place amongst OAC goalkeepers, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, March 4 when they host Kenyon College for a non-conference matchup in George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
