Women’s Golf Team Places 10th at Wooster Spring Invitational

 

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team placed tenth at the 2016 The College of Wooster Spring Invitational Tournament at the Mohican Hills Golf Club. This was the fourth of five spring tournaments for the Yellow Jackets.

The collegiate golf season is split equally between a fall and spring schedule. The 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Tournament and the NCAA Division III National tourney take place during the spring.

BW finished 10th of 12 teams and fired rounds of 385 strokes on the first day on Saturday, April 16 and 375 on the second day for a 760-stroke total for 36 holes on the par-72 and 5,841-yard Mohican Hills G.C. layout.  Madonna (Mich.) College won the team title with 662 total strokes.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC student-athlete Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/ South) as she placed in a tie for 31st of 70 total golfers with rounds of 91 and 91 for a two-day and 36-hole total of 182 strokes.

She was followed by freshman Madison Trenkamp (Villa Hills, Ky. / Villa Madonna Academy) who fired rouns of 98 and 92 for a 190 total to tie for 44th; senior Nikki Gannon (North Ridgeville) had rounds of 100 and 96 for a 196 total to tie for 51st along with freshman teammate Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y.) who reversed the rounds with a 96 and then a 100 for a 196 total to tie for 51st; and freshman Erinn Maynard (New London) had rounds of 106 and 96 for 202 total to tie for 54th.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30 and Satuyrday, May 1 when they travel to Lafayette, Ohio to compete at the 2016 OAC Championship Topurnament at the River Greens Golf Club.
