Women Golfers Finish Fifth at Webber International in Florida

AVON PARK, Florida, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's golf team finished in fifth place finish at the 2016 spring season-opener at the River Greens Spring Classic, hosted by Webber (Fla.) International University at the River Greens Golf Course. It is the first of five spring tournaments for the Yellow Jackets.

The collegiate golf season is divided into a fall and spring schedule with the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III Championships events contested during the spring season. In addition, five student-athletes competed as a team with the top four scores counting each day toward the team total.

BW finished fifth with a round of 426 on the par-72 and 6,400-yard River Greens layout.

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC student-athlete Laura Vidmar (Willoughby/ South) with a 97. She was followed by freshman Grace Magee (Skaneateles, N.Y./ Skaneateles) with a 106, freshman Erinn Maynard (New London) with 110 strokes and junior Kelsey Johnson (Carmel, Ind./ Park Tudor) with a 113.  In addition, senior Nikki Gannon (North Ridgeville) had a round of 125.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Sunday, April 3 when BW travels to Alliance, Ohio to participate in the 2016 University of Mount Union Purple Raider Spring Invitational Tournament at the Tannenhauf G.C.
