OBERLIN, Ohio – In a low-scoring affair, the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team fell on a last-second jump shot to Oberlin College 46-45 in a non-conference game inside Philips Gymnasium.

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Hannah Fecht recorded her second double-double of the season and the fifth of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Yellow Jackets, also adding an assist and a block. Sophomore guard Kasey Hughes (Springboro) was the next leading scorer with eight points and sophomore guard/forward Kara Marshall (Copley/Akron Archbishop Hoban) contributed seven points.

Oberlin opened up the game on a 6-0 run before junior Academic All-OAC forward Rachel Womeldorf (Lewis Center/Olentangy) finally got the Yellow Jackets on the board with a layup at the 6:34 mark. Down 8-2 with five minutes remaining in the first quarter, sophomore guard Tiffany Bentler (North Canton/Hoover) made the second of her two free throws to begin a 15-2 run for BW that stretched into the second quarter. Senior guard Tyler Parlor finally put an end to the Yellow Jackets run by hitting a three-pointer with 6:20 left in the half. The Yeowomen kept chipping at the lead, getting within one point at 19-18 at the 4:02 mark, before BW ended the half on a 7-0 run.

BW and Oberlin traded baskets for much of the third quarter until Bentler gave the Yellow Jackets their first double-digit lead of the game at the free throw line with 3:54 remaining in the quarter. Fecht then drained a three-pointer to put BW up 37-24 and made a layup with the clock winding down to maintain a 13-point lead heading into the final period.

Oberlin would not go down quietly in the fourth quarter, cutting a 14-point lead down to just five points with 3:18 remaining. Fecht hit a three-pointer to put the Yellow Jackets back up by eight. However, the Yeowomen countered with a three ball by junior guard Alex Stipano, who then knocked down two free throws to cut the lead down to three points with 2:07 left in the game. Sophomore guard Ally Driscoll added two free throws of her own to bring Oberlin within one point at 43-42 with just under two minutes on the clock. Bentler made a layup with 1:26 remaining for a three-point lead while Driscoll hit a jump shot at the 1:06 mark to pull the Yeowomen back within one point. The final minute passed in a flurry of timeouts, substitutions, free throws and missed shots until Parlor drained a jumper as time expired to give Oberlin the one-point victory.

BW will open up 2017-18 Ohio Athletic Conference action by hosting Heidelberg University on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. inside Ursprung Gymnasium.
