BEXLEY, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team spoiled Capital University's Senior Day with a 77-51 Ohio Athletic Conference victory inside the Capital Center.

Junior All-OAC guard/forward Hannah Fecht (Hilliard/Davidson) led BW (14-9, 10-6 OAC) with 20 points while sophomore guard/forward Kara Marshall (Copley/Akron Archbishop Hoban) scored a career-high 13 points. Junior Academic All-OAC forward Rachel Womeldorf (Lewis Center/Olentangy) grabbed a career-high eight boards to lead the rebounding effort.

Sophomore forward Regan Stonerock led Capital (12-11, 8-8 OAC) with 15 points while junior forward Erin Risner chipped in 10 points of her own.

After getting off to a slow start and trailing 7-4, the Yellow Jackets never looked back, ripping off a 15-0 run that got started by back-to-back three pointers off the hands of transfer sophomore guard/forward Mary Schentur (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights). With help from the run, BW held a 19-9 lead at the end of the first.

The Yellow Jacket defense remained stout in the second quarter, only allowing five Crusader points in the entire period. Meanwhile, the offense just continued to click and built up to a 20-point advantage at the 3:11 mark and had a formidable 33-14 lead at the half.

Fecht led the offense with the hot hand in the third quarter, nailing four treys in the period, as BW built up to a 24-point lead with 5:35 left in the period. Capital began to mount a comeback, however, as the Crusaders went on an 12-0 run to cut the Yellow Jacket lead down to 12 points, 49-37, at the 1:30 mark. Sophomore guard Riley Schill (Sheffield Lake/Elyria Catholic) quickly put an end to the run with a three-pointer with 1:21 remaining while freshman guard Gabby Garrett (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) also knocked one down from deep in the final minute, giving BW a 55-39 lead heading into the final period.

Undeterred by Capital's late third quarter run, the BW offense was firing on all cylinders in the fourth thanks to Marshall as she scored nine of her career-high 13 points in the period. The highlight of the quarter came, perhaps, when freshman guard Becca Tacchite (Valley City/Columbia) hit a three-pointer to mark the first field goal of her college career.

BW will host the University of Mount Union for Seniors' and Parents' Night in the last regular season home game on Wednesday, February 14, at 7:30 p.m. inside Ursprung Gymnasium.
