Women's Basketball Picked Third in OAC Coaches Poll

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team has been picked third in the 2017-18 Ohio Athletic Conference Preseason Poll.

BW, who was picked second a year ago, finished third out of 10 teams with 59 points and one first place vote. Defending Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion Ohio Northern University was selected first with 78 points and six first place votes. Marietta College was picked third with 67 points and two first place votes. Capital University finished in fourth behind the Yellow Jackets with 55 points and one first place vote while Wilmington College rounded out the top five with 53 points.

Veteran head coach Cheri Harrer, who is in her 28th season at BW and has compiled a 549-202 career record, returns 10 letterwinners and three starters from last year's squad that posted a 21-5 record and a 14-4 mark in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC semifinals a season ago before falling to Wilmington.

BW will open up the 2017-18 campaign by hosting St. Vincent (Pa.) College for a non-conference game on Wednesday, Nov. 15, inside Ursprung Gymnasium. OAC action opens up at home on Wednesday, Nov. 29, when the Yellow Jackets host Heidelberg University.
