Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Ohio Northern in OAC Dual

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams fell to Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW men (4-4, 1-2 OAC) fell to Ohio Northern (5-0, 4-0 OAC) by a final score of 167-58.  

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior All-American stroker Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and sophomore All-OAC stroker Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs) as each won an event and was a runner-up. Thompson won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.23 second and took second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:05.33. Shaw won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.60 seconds and was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.81.

In addition, freshman Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in career-best time of 1:52.13 and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.63. Freshman stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time 58.45.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay squad of Morsch, Thompson, Shaw and sophomore stroker Austin Lockhart (Olmsted Falls) took second in a time of 1:39.93. 

BW is back in action on Saturday, January 20 when it travels to University Heights for an OAC dual meet against crosstown rival John Carroll University in the William H. Johnson Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
