Men's Swimming and Diving Team Earns Second Straight with Defeat of Bethany (W. Va.)

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's aswimming and diving teams won its second straight dual meet as it defeated Bethany (W. Va.) College in a non-conference dual meet inside the BW Natatorium. 

BW (2-1) defeated Bethany (0-2) by a final score of 93-59. The Yellow Jackets had six individual champions and one relay winner. 

The BW winners were junior freestyler John Beyer (Columbus/Centennial), sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference stroker Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo./Manitou Springs), sophomore stroker Austin Lockhart (Olmsted Falls), freshman freestyle Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf, freshman stroker Kyle Cordrey (Mansfield/Ontario) and freshman stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory).

Beyer won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:02.02. Shaw took first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.80 seconds. Lockhart captured the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.62 seconds. Butt brought home the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.98. Cordrey won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:16.26. Morsch took first the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.87 seconds.

The Yellow Jacket winning 200-yard medley relay team of junior freestyler Tyler Allison (Napoleon), junior All-American stroker Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), Morsch and Beyer touched the wall in a time of 1:41.32.

BW is back in action on Saturday, November 4 when it travels to North Manchester, Indiana for a non-conference dual meet against Manchester University inside the Strauss-Peabody Aquatics and Fitness Center at 1 p.m.
