Thompson Earns First Career OAC Men's Swimmer of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWNN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-American stroker Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) has been selected as the OAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the first time in his illustrious career.

Thompson earns his first weekly accolade after winning three individual events and one relay as BW defeated Manchester (Ind.) University by a final score of 183-65.  He captured the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.77 seconds, the 200-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:18.11 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:07.73 and swam the second leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:41.35.

Thompson is a five-time All-OAC performer, two-time defending OAC Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and the OAC Champion in the 200-yard breaststroke.  He won the 100-breaststroke title last season in an OAC and BW record-time of 54.27 and won the 200-breaststroke in a BW record-time of 2:04.69.   Thompson won his first 100-breaststroke title as a sophomore when he was an All-American in the event.   The biology major is a three-year letterwinner. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, November 11 when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a non-conference dual meet against Penn State Behrend College inside the Junker Center at 1 p.m.
