Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Mount Union in OAC Dual

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team fell to the University of Mount in an Ohio Athletic Conference Dual meet inside the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex. 

BW (4-3, 1-1 OAC) fell to Mount Union (4-1, 1-1 OAC) by a final score of 123-96. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore diver Evan Rinaldi (Cleveland/Cleveland Heights) as he won the 1-meter five dive and the 1-meter six dive events with 120.50 and 174.55 points. Junior All-American Tyler Thompson (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and sophomore All-OAC stroker Greg Shaw (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Manitou Springs) each won and event and was a runner-up. Thompson won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.42 seconds and finished second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:05.73.  Shaw won the 100-yard butterfly and was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle in season-best times of 53.38 and 22.93 seconds. 

In addition, sophomore freestyler Austin Lockhart (Olmsted Falls) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.87 seconds. Freshman freestyler Connor Hartup (Westlake) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:19.20 and finished third in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 20:06.36. Freshman stroker Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) took third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:54.89.  Junior freestyler John Beyer (Columbus/Centennial) was third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.17 seconds.   Freshman stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) took third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.17.  Freshman stroker Kyle Cordrey (Mansfield/Ontario) placed third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:28.07

In relay action, the 200-yard medley team of Morsch, Thompson, Shaw and Beyer placed second in a season-best time of 1:40.20. The 200-yard freestyle squad of Morsch, junior freestyler Tyler Allison (Napoleon), Lockhart and Butt touched the wall first in a season-best time of 1:34.12

BW is back in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 1-3 when it travels to Fredonia, New York to compete in the annual Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Fredonia University in the Steele Hall Natatorium.
