LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Baldwin Wallace University senior attack Chad Steinwachs (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville North) has been named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Warrior and New Balance Division III All-America Team.
Steinwachs earns the first All-American honor of his career with an honorable mention selection. He joins defender Josiah Greve as the only other All-American in program history as Greve was also an honorable mention selection in 2017. Steinwachs is the only player from the Ohio Athletic Conference to land on this year's All-America team.
The senior helped lead the team to six separate offensive records – single-game goals (34), single-game assists (23), single-game points (57), single-season goals (309), single-season assists (190) and single-season points (499). Nationally, the Yellow Jackets finished as the top Division III team in shot percentage at 40.1 percent and the fourth-best scoring team with 18.18 goals per game.
Individually, Steinwachs led the Yellow Jackets, the OAC and all of NCAA Division III in assists (77), assists per game (4.53), points (118) and points per game (6.94) while his 41 goals was good for third on the team. Against teams that made the NCAA Division III Tournament, he posted totals of 14 goals, 14 assists and 28 points, leading BW to a 3-1 record against those programs. Following his record-setting season, Steinwachs was named the OAC Offensive Player of the Year and notched his third consecutive first-team All-OAC honor.
In his career, Steinwachs appeared in 65 games with 49 starts and recorded 132 goals, 151 assists, 283 points, 124 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. His name is written on seven separate school records – single-game assists, single-game points, single-season assists, single-season points, career goals, career assists and career points. Steinwachs also graduated sixth all-time in career ground balls.
BW finished the 2019 season with a school-record tying 14 wins, setting additional school records for conference wins and road victories with eight apiece.
