Raines Collects OAC Pitcher of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior left handed-pitcher Jack Raines (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career.

Raines, who is second in the OAC with 50 strikeouts, garners this award after a two-appearance week where he earned a win and a save. In the 9-1 victory over Ohio Northern University, Raines dealt a career-high eight innings where he allowed one run off five hits and struck out six. Against Muskingum University he struck out two and allowed zero runs off zero hits in the two-inning save.

For his career, Raines has made 48 appearances, with four starts, and owns an 8-6 record with five saves. He has struck out 121 hitters in 120.1 innings pitched and has an earned-run-average (ERA) of 3.52 with one complete game. 

The Yellow Jackets begin a six-game road trip with a doubleheader against Heidelberg University on Tuesday, April 16. Game one is slated for 1 p.m and game two for 4 p.m. After that series BW will travel to Columbus for an OAC doubleheader with Capital University on Friday, April 19. BW will conclude the trip with two games against La Roche (Pa.) University on Monday, April 22.
