BW Volleyball Ends Season With Hard Fought Loss in OAC Tournament

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The fourth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team ended its season with a thrilling and hard fought Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal match loss to second-seeded John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

The Yellow Jackets (15-15) lost in three sets to the Blue Streaks (22-6) and by the scores of 22-25, 26-28 and 20-25. John Carroll advances and hosts the sixth-seeded Capital University on Thursday, November 6 in the OAC Tournament semifinals at 7 p.m.

The BW offense was led by junior Anna Miley (West Salem/ Northwestern) and freshman outside hitter Lauryn Wright (Orrville) as each player had eight kills.  Senior Academic All-OAC right side hitter Alayna Chlad (Kent/ Roosevelt) recorded seven kills and two blocks. Freshman middle hitter Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) tallied six kills.

Sophomore Sydney Robinson (Silver Lake/ Cuyahoga Falls) and senior Katie Primeau (Pemberville/ Eastwood) set up the offense with 18 and 14 assists, respectively.

Freshman outside hitter Melissa Metz (Medina/ Our Lady of the Elms) led the defense 17 digs. Sophomore libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/ St. Paul) added 12 digs.
