BW Volleyball Drops OAC Match to No. 6 Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team dropped a three-set match to No. 6-nationally ranked and defending Ohio Athletic Conference Champion the University of Mount Union in an OAC match in the Union in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Yellow Jackets (14-10, 2-2 OAC) fell to the Purple Raiders (21-2, 4-0 OAC), who have won 21 of their last 22 OAC matches, by scores of 17-25, 14-25 and 15-25.

Freshman outside hitter Lauryn Wright (Orrville) led the BW offensive attack with nine kills.  Junior outside hitter Anna Miley (West Salem/Northwestern) tallied five and senior Academic All-OAC right side hitter Alayna Chlad (Kent/Roosevelt) contributed four.

Senior Katie Primeau (Pemberville/Eastwood) and sophomore Sydney Robinson (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) set up the offense with 14 and nine assists, respectively.

Sophomore libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the defense with a game-high 21 digs.  Freshman outside hitter Melissa Metz (Medina/Our Lady of the Elms) recorded 11.

BW is back in action on Saturday, October 18 when the Yellow Jackets host Wilmington College in an OAC match in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 1 p.m.  Fans can follow all of the action live at http://tinyurl.com/bwwilvolley.
