BW Volleyball Drops First OAC Match to Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team lost in straight sets against Heidelberg University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in the Ursprung Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets (13-9, 1-1 OAC) fell to the Student Princes (13-10, 2-1 OAC) by scores of 16-25, 21-25, 19-25. Freshman outside hitter Lauryn Wright (Orrville) led the BW offensive attack with eight kills. Senior Academic All-OAC right side hitter Alayna Chlad (Kent/Roosevelt) and junior outside hitter Anna Miley (West Salem/Northwestern) each had five.

Senior Katie Primeau (Pemberville/Eastwood) and sophomore Sydney Robinson (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) set up the offense with 13 assists apiece.

Sophomore libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the defense with 17 digs. Freshman outside hitter Melissa Metz (Medina/Our Lady of the Elms) recorded 14 and senior defensive specialist Paige Pileski (Elyria) contributed 10.

BW remains at home this Saturday, October 11 when the team hosts Marietta College in an OAC match inside the Ursprung Gymnasium at 1 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action live at http://tinyurl.com/bwmarvolley.
