BW Volleyball Team Falls In Five Sets to Case

CLEVELAND – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team dropped a five-set match to Cleveland cross-town and non-league rival Case Western Reserve University, 3-2, tonight inside the Horsburgh Gymnasium.  The loss was BW's fifth straight.

The Yellow Jackets, now 7-11 overall, lost by the scores of 25-19, 18-25, 32-30, 19-25 and 4-15. With its win, the Spartans even their record at 9-9 overall.

The BW offense was led by senior middle hitter Colleen Bonacci (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) with 13 kills.  Senior setter Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/ Columbia) and junior setter Katie Primeau (Pemberville/ Eastwood) each recorded double figures in set assists with 21 and 19, respectively. Nagle had four service aces and Primeau and freshmen defensive specialist Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/ St. Paul) each had three.
 
Defensively, senior libero Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) led with 23 digs. Senior defensive specialist Taylor Burns (Tiffin/ Fostoria St. Wendelin) added 14 and Nagle contributed 11.  Bonacci had six blocks and sophomore Kaitlin Burgess (Danville, Calif. / Silver Lake (Mass.) Regional) and senior middle hitter Kayla Harris (Lima) each had four.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday, September 28 when they open Ohio Athletic Conference play against Muskingum University in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center in Berea on Family and Community Day at 12:30 p.m. Three of their first four OAC matches are at home.
