SALISBURY, MARYLAND-- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team drops a pair of matches on the final day of the Sea Gull Classic hosted by Salisbury University in the Maggs Physical Activities Center.
With the losses, the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-9 overall. Salisbury (Md.) improves to 13-1 overall and Gallaudet (D.C.) is now 10-3.
Senior libero Natalie Emmons (Ashland) was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
In the match versus Salisbury, the Yellow Jackets lost in straight sets by scores of 18-25, 14-25 and 22-25. Leading the way on offensive was senior outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/Lake Catholic) with eight kills and freshman outside hitter Savannah Moore (Burbank/ Nothwestern) with seven. Setting up the offense was junior Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/Columbia) who had 20 set assists. On defense, Emmons led with 20 digs while Nagle contributed a total of 15 digs.
In its match with Gallaudet, BW lost in five sets by scores of 24-26, 25-18, 25-18, 17-25 and 6-15.
Baldwin Wallace will remain on the road next week when it travels to New Concord, Ohio to open Ohio Athletic Conference play against Muskingum University on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are on the road next weekend September 21-22 when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to take part in the OAC and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Challenge hosted by Transylvania University. BW will face Hanover (Ind.) College and the College of Mount St. Joseph on Friday and Bluffton and Transylvania on Saturday.
