BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference-rival Marietta College, 3-2, today (Saturday, October 27, 2012) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center. The scores of the matches were 22-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23 and 16-14.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets end their regular season with a 12-17 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the OAC. BW will enter next weeks OAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will travel to Ada, Ohio on Tuesday October 30 to take on No. 3 seed Ohio Northern. With the win, the Pioneers finish their regular season with a 17-11 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the OAC. Marietta will be the No. 5 seed in the OAC Tournament and will travel to Tiffin, Ohio, as they will face No. 4 seed Heidelberg on Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets were led offensively by senior right side hitter Karianne Sifferlin (Wooster) with a match high, 16 kills. In addition, senior middle hitter Rachel Switalski (North Royalton/Holy Name) contributed 14 kills. Junior setter Emily Nagle (Columbia Station/Columbia) set up the offense and had 41 set assists.
