Five BW Women’s Soccer Players Earn All-OAC Honors

BEREA, Ohio— Five Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes have been selected to the 2015 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Junior defender Kelly Gough (Hudson) and freshman forward Rachel Bender earned first-team All-OAC honors. Sophomore midfielder Anna Poptic (Dublin/Jerome) was named to the second-team, and senior defender Kadi Tucker (Mason) and goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) earned All-OAC honorable mention accolades.

Gough, the 2014 OAC Defensive Player of the Year, earns her second straight first-team All-OAC accolade. This season, she appeared in and started all 21 games.  Gough anchored a defense that allowed only 0.85 goals-per-game.   She scored four goals and added one assist for a total of nine points.   Gough, a third-team All-Great Lakes and Ohio College Soccer Coaches Association (OCSCA) selection in 2014, has appeared in 62 games and has scored 13 goals and added four assists for 30 total points. 

Bender, who appeared in all 22 games with 20 starts, earns her first All-OAC honor. She led the Yellow Jackets and was second in the OAC with 11 goals.  Bender also was the team leader and ranked third in the OAC with 25 points.   She recorded a career-best two goals in a 6-0 OAC victory against Marietta College on October 10.

Poptic, who appeared in and started all 22 games, earns her first All-OAC accolade. She scored a career-high tying three goals, including scoring a career-best two game-winners.  Poptic was second on the team with a career-high four assists and was fourth in total points with a career-best 10. For her career, Poptic has appeared in all 44 games with 40 starts.   She has netted six goals, including three game-winners and added five assists for 17 points. 

Tucker, who is BW's all-time leader in games played with 84, earns her first All-OAC honor.   She played in and started in all 22 games and was a part of a defense that allowed only 0.85 goals-per-game.  Tucker, a third-team OSCA All-Ohio selection in 2014, tallied a career-best three assists for a career-high tying three points.   For her career, Tucker made 59 starts and recorded one goal and added four assists for eight total points.   She is a two-time BW Defensive Player of the Year recipient.

Tallmadge
, the BW record-holder for shutouts with 31, earns her third All-OAC accolade.  She is a two-time All-OAC second-team selection and two-time Academic All-OAC selection.  Tallmadge started all 22 games in net and allowed 0.85 goals-per-contest.  For her career, Tallmadge has started 83 games and has allowed 0.96 goals-per-contest in 7,500 minutes of action.  She allowed a career-low 12 goals and had a career-best 0.61 goals-per-contest as a freshman.   Tallmadge ranks fifth all-time in school history with 343 saves.  In addition, she excels in the classroom as she carries a 3.79 grade point average in chemistry.   Tallmadge is a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District 7 selection and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honorees.

 
The Yellow Jackets finished the year with a record of 11-6-5 overall and 4-2-3 in OAC play, and advanced to the semifinals and was defeated by the OAC regular-season and tournament champion Capital University in the semifinals.
