TIFFIN, Ohio – A career performance from freshman forward Sydney Diedrich (Chardon/Gilmour Academy) drove the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team to a 69-46 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Heidelberg University inside Seiberling Gymnasium.

BW (12-6, 8-3 OAC) was led by Diedrich as she had a career night of 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-5 from the three-point arc. Junior Academic All-OAC forward Rachel Womeldorf (Lewis Center/Olentangy) also hit double figures as she added 11 points of her own.

Heidelberg (4-14, 2-9 OAC) was led by junior guard Alyssa Riley who had 11 points.

While the Student Princes struggled to make a shot to shot, the BW offense jumped out to a quick 13-4 lead thanks to seven early points from Diedrich. Heidelberg got a few stops on defense, however, in the midst of an 8-2 run to finish off the period as BW led 15-12 heading into the second quarter.

Diedrich continued her sharp shooting and, with just 7:34 remaining in the first half, set her single game career high with a three-pointer off her own missed free throw. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets defense locked down and held the Student Princes to just seven points in the period and took a 33-19 lead into the locker room at halftime.

BW used a 7-0 run to start the second half to jump out to its first 20-point advantage, 40-20, of the game when sophomore guard Riley Schill (Sheffield Village/Elyria Catholic), the reigning OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, hit a jump shot at the 7:20 mark. Heidelberg countered with a 6-0 run of its own to begin to cut into the deficit. As the Yellow Jackets got into foul trouble, the Student Princes continued to climb back into the game and only trailed 49-35 with 1:34 left in the third.

Diedrich blew past the 20-point barrier in the fourth quarter as she hit two more three-pointers and scored 10 points in the period, capping off a career night. BW continued to work with a 20-point lead that was too much for the Student Princes to overcome.

BW will continue its road trip on Saturday, January 27, with a trip to Marietta to take on the 19th-ranked Marietta College Pioneers at 3 p.m. inside Ban Johnson Arena.
