Devlin of Men’s Volleyball Earns First Career MCVL Offensive Player of the Week Award

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa –  Sophomore right side hitter Michael Devlin (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) of the Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team was named the Midwest College Volleyball League Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Devlin helped his team to a 3-2 record last week. The week started with Devlin leading the Yellow Jackets to defeating Hiram College in straight sets, by scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 25-21. Devlin totaled a match-high 10 kills and added three digs.

BW then traveled to Dallas, Pennsylvania to compete in the two-day Misericordia Cougar Classic where the Yellow Jackets went 2-2 on the weekend. BW split on day one of the invitational, falling to Medaille (N.Y.) University in five sets and beating Randolph-Macon (Va.) College in five sets. On day two, the Yellow Jackets again split, defeating Emmanuel (Mass.) College and dropping a match to No. 15 nationally ranked Nazareth (N.Y.) College.

At the invitational, Devlin led the team with 60 kills (3.75 kills per set), hitting .277 on the weekend. He also picked up 20 digs, was second on the team with six blocks, and added three service aces. Devlin notched a season-high 22 kills in the five-set win over Randolph-Macon.

Devlin leads the MCVL in total kills, this season, with 113 and is second in the league in kills per set (3.32). This year, he has also tallied 44 digs, 12 blocks, and eight aces.

In his career, Devlin has posted 278 kills, 124 digs, 41 blocks, 19 service aces, and six assists.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Thursday, February 2, as they travel to Greenville, Pa. for a non-conference tilt against Thiel College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. inside Beeghly Gymnasium.
