Beard of Men’s Volleyball Earns All-MVCL Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Michael Beard (Hillard/Darby) has been named to the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Men's Volleyball team as he was a second-team selection for the second consecutive season.

Beard repeats in the award and still is the only MCVL student-athlete in BW history after its second inaugural season. Beard finished as the team leader and fifth in the MCVL in kills per set (3.06) and sixth in total kills (266). He also was second on the team in digs with 148 digs, second on the team in blocks with 29, third on the team in service aces with 24, and added 12 assists. He recorded his career-high in a 24-kill performance this year in the five-set loss to Adrian, where he also notched 15 digs.

In his career, Beard has totaled 453 kills, 247 digs, 43 blocks, 37 aces, and 27 assists. He was named an MCVL Defensive Player of the Week this season on February 1 and was previously named an MCVL Offensive Player of the Week honoree last season on February 25, 2021.

In its second season as a program, BW finished with an overall record of 8-18 and placed seventh in the MCVL with a mark of 3-5.
