BW Men Third at All-Ohio Meet

DELAWARE, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed third at the annual All-Ohio Division III Championship Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Field.

The BW men were led by junior All-American Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) who placed second in last weekend's (also at Mt. Union) All-Ohio decathlon competition with 6,435 points.  Eddy also finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 172'8" and seventh in the high jump at 6'2", pole vault at 14'0.25" and 110-meter high hurdles in 15.51 seconds.

Senior Kevin Johnson (Maple Heigthts/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) won the 100-meter dash in 10.39 seconds, which is the second fastest time in school history and only topped by 4-timer Olympic gold medalist Harrison Dillard, and won the 200 meter dash in 21.25 seconds. Johnson also anchored the winning 4 x 100-meter relay team that included sophomore Ben Beidleman (Washinton, D.C./ St. Anselm's Abbey), freshmen Otis Conel (Ashtabula/ Lakeside) and Troy Robinson (Akron/ Garfield) in 41.27 seconds. Beidleman also placed second to Johnson in the 200-meter dash in 21.53 seconds and was seventh in the 400-meters in 49.08 seconds.

In addition to Eddy and Johnson, junior Greg Blevins (Mentor) was second in the 10,000-meter run in 33:01.15, sophomore Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/ Riverside) was third in the hammer at 174'6", freshman Dakota Spangler-Smith (Port Clinton) was third in the shot put with a career-best toss of 50'5.5".

Next Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, BW is back in action when it hosts the annual Paul "Sparky" Adams Invitational Meet at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.  The hammer competition will take place on Friday, April 18 and all other events will be contested on Saturday. On April 25-26, BW also will host the 2014 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Meet.
