Two Yellow Jacket Men Compete on Day Two of NCAA Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio – Two Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field athletes competed on day two of the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.

Senior All-American, Ohio Athletic Conference Sprinter of the Year and Great Lakes Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/St. Ignatius) led the Yellow Jackets as he qualified for the finals of the 100-meters with a time of 10.51 seconds, which was the fastest qualifying time.   Johnson will look to end the 20014 season undefeated in the 100-meter against Division III competition.

Junior All-American decathlete Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) finished in 20th place in the two day and 10 event decathlon with 4,431 points.   On the second day, Eddy took first in the pole vault with vault of 15'1" (790 pts.), sixth in the discus with a throw of 119'3"  (591 pts.), 18th in the javelin with a throw of 125' (415 pts.) , did not finish in the 1,500-meter run (0 pts.) and was disqualified in the 110-meter hurdles (0 pts.),.   On the first day, he was first in the high jump with a leap of 6'7.50" (822 pts.), 17th in the shot put with a throw of 35'7.25" (537 pts.), 18th in the 100-meter with a time of 11.66 (719 pts.), 20th in the 400-meter in a time of 56.05 seconds (557 pts.) and fouled out in the long jump (0 points).

The third and final day of the NCAA Championships is set for Saturday, May 23.  The Yellow Jacket competitors will compete in the finals of the men's 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
