Men's Swimming and Diving Drops OAC Road Dual Meet to Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference road dual meet by a final score of 153-67 inside the ONU Sports Center.

BW (0-2, 0-2 OAC)  had three individual champions in senior Academic All-OAC performer Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf), sophomore All-OAC diver Zachary Pierce (Willis, Texas/Klein Collins) and freshman freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon).

Butt won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.84 seconds and was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.65.   Pierce won the 1-meter diving event with a total of 229.75 points.  Kooyman won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.45 seconds and was third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 52.00.

Sophomore freestyler Austin Olsavsky (Medina) hd a pair of runner-up finishes as he placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:48.17 and in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:12.32.

In addition, senior stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) finished third in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:08.40. Freshman freestyler Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich. /Marshall) took third in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:18.35.

In relay action, the 400-yard freestyle team of Olsavsky, Morsch, Kooyman and Butt placed second in a time of 3:20.90.

The Yellow Jackets close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, February 13 when they hosts defending OAC Champion and crosstown rival John Carroll University on Seniors' Day in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 1 p.m.
