Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to John Carroll on Seniors' Day

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team closed the portion of its home schedule as it fell to defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and crosstown rival John Carroll University by a final score of 193-39 in an OAC dual meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center. 

BW (0-3, 0-3 OAC) was led by sophomore All-OAC diver Zachary Pierce (Willis, Texas/Klein Collins) as he was the runner-up in both the 1-meter five-dive and six-dive events with 148.65 and 232.45 points.

In addition, senior stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) was third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.82 seconds and was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.71.   Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) finished fourth both in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle in times of 22.66 and 49.87.  Sophomore freestyler Austin Olsavsky (Medina) took fourth in both the 400-yard medley and the 500-yard freestyle in times of 4:32.49 and 5:10.93. Freshman freestyler Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich. /Marshall) was fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:26.16.  Freshman freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township /Chardon) placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.08.

In relay action, the 200-yard freestyle team of Butt, Olsavsky, Morsch and Kooyman placed second in a time of 1:30.48.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, February 27 when they travel to Wilmington for an OAC dual meet against Wilmington University inside the Wilmington Natatorium at 11 a.m.
