GENEVA, Ohio – Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference diver Zachary Pierce (Willis, Texas/Klein Collins) successfully defended his 3-meter title and repeated as the OAC Diver of Year to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams to a fourth place finish at the OAC Championships hosted by John Carroll University at the Spire Institute.
BW was fourth of five teams with a three-day total points of 317. John Carroll University won its fifth straight title with 1,020 points.
Pierce won the 3-meter and 11-dive event on Friday night with 408.55 points and earned All-OAC honors in the 1-meter and 11-dive event on Saturday night as he took third with 404.80 points.
In addition, sophomore stroker Austin Olsavsky (Medina) finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:44.96, sixth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:50.96 and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 48.59.
Also, for the Yellow Jackets, senior stroker Michael Morsch (Phoenix, Ariz./Notre Dame Preparatory) placed ninth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:00.67, 11th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 54.61 and 11th in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:51.60. Senior freestyler Conner Hartup (Westlake) was 10th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:46.69. Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Matthew Butt (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) took 11th in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly in times of 21.98 and 53.04 seconds. Sophomore stroker Nathan Massey (Columbus/Centennial) was 11th in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:54.34. Sophomore stroker Alec McNeil (Avon Lake) was 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:25.13
In relay action, the 200-yard freestyle unit of Butt, Morsch, Olsavsky and freshman freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) placed fourth in a time of 1:27.20. The 400-yard medley team of Massey, McNeil, freshman stroker Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich./Marshall) and Kooyman finished fifth in a time of 3:51.25. The 200-yard medley squad of Morsch, Butt and freshman freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) took fifth in a time of 1:40.27. The 800-yard freestyle unit of Morsch, Butt, Doolittle and Olsavsky placed fourth in a time of 7:15.67. The 400-yard freestyle squad of Massey, Hartup, McNeil and Morsch finished fourth in a time of 3:30.65.
