WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Nine members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team have been selected to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference squad for the 2024 season.
Making the All-OAC first team is senior short stick defensive midfielder Noah Bartos (Lancaster, N.Y.), senior attack Jake Nanosky (Medina), and sophomore midfielder Ian Shealy (Westerville / Central).
Bartos garners his second career All-OAC first team accolade. He played and started in all 17 games for the Yellow Jackets. Bartos was tied for second on the team with 36 ground balls, tied for third on the team with 12 caused turnovers (11th all-time), scored five goals, and was vital in the team's success this year as OAC Regular Season Co-Champions. He is tied for fourth all-time in career games played with 62, and he's 22nd all-time in career ground balls with 85. Bartos had a single-game career best of six ground balls collected on the road against crosstown rival John Carroll University. He earned his fourth varsity letter this spring.
Nanosky earns his fourth consecutive conference accolade, and his third selection to the first team. He became the all-time scoring leader this season with 135 career goals, surpassing the previous record of 132 goals. Nanosky also became the all-time leader in career-shots on goal with 156 total. This season, he was second on the team with 35 goals and eighth overall in the OAC. Additionally, he led the team with 28 assists and was tied for second overall in the conference. Nanosky played and started in all 17 games for BW, climbing his way to number one all-time in career games played with a total of 67 games. To add on to his illustrious season, he led the team and was fourth in the OAC with 63 points. He also collected 14 ground balls and caused six turnovers for the Brown and Gold. Nanosky earned his fourth varsity letter this spring.
Shealy receives his first All-OAC honor after appearing and starting in all 17 games this season. He was fourth on the team with 28 goals, third on the team with 15 assists, racked up 13 ground balls, and showed versatility by winning a faceoff for the Yellow Jackets. Shealy had a single-game career best of four goals in BW's season-opener against Centre (Ky.) College. He brought the same dominant energy into the Brown and Gold's first victory of the season by scoring another four goals against Chatham (Pa.) University. Shealy scored in 14 of BW's 17 games this season, including three man-up goals (second on the team). He earned his second varsity letter this spring.
Landing on the All-OAC second team is sophomore midfielder Nate Hoover (Worthington / Thomas Worthington), sophomore attack/midfielder Jake Koonmen (Fairport, N.Y.), freshman defender Gavin Pate (Clarkston, Mich.), and sophomore attack/midfielder Bennet Trout (Pickerington / North).
Hoover earns the first conference honor of his career after scoring a career-best 18 goals for the Yellow Jackets. Appearing and starting in all 17 games this season, he was tied for fifth on team with nine assists and notched six ground balls. Hoover caused two turnovers this season and tallied 27 points. He had a single-game career-best of three goals twice this season; the first taking place in BW's road victory against University of Mount Union, and the second in the succeeding home victory against Ohio Northern University. Hoover earned his second varsity letter this spring.
Koonmen garners his first career All-OAC honor with his spot on the second team. After appearing and starting in all 17 games, he was fifth on the team with a career-best 26 goals and made six assists for BW this season. Additionally, Koonmen collected a career-best 11 ground balls and caused a turnover for the Yellow Jackets. He had a back-to-back single-game career-best of four goals this year; his first in BW's OAC opener against Marietta College, and the second coming in the following game against Otterbein University. Koonmen earned his second varsity letter this spring.
Pate was awarded with All-OAC second team honors after a remarkable season with the Yellow Jackets. As a freshman, he led the team and was 10th in the OAC with 24 caused turnovers. Pate had a single-game career best of four ground balls twice this season; the first being on the road against No. 18 nationally ranked Denison University, and most recently at Muskingum University. He also caused four turnovers against Denison. Pate appeared in all 17 games and started in 16 games for BW this season. He earned his first varsity letter this spring.
Trout receives his second career All-OAC honor after a spectacular season for BW. The 2023 Freshman of the Year led the team and was fifth in the OAC with 37 goals scored. His total assists (21) and points (58) placed him second on the team under both categories, while ranking sixth in the OAC in points and eighth in assists. Defensively, Trout was tied for second on the team with 36 ground balls and had the most of any attackman. He was fourth on the team in caused turnovers (10), and he scored on a team-best seven man-up goals. This season, Trout scored a single-game career-best of six goals in the Yellow Jackets' first victory against Chatham (Pa.) University. Trout's aim at the net led him to a career-best 64.4% on-goal shooting percentage. He earned his second varsity letter this spring.
Making it to the All-OAC honorable mention squad is sophomore defender Ethan Hingson (Grand Rapids, Mich. / East Grand Rapids) and junior midfielder/face-off specialist Zach Zoul (Strongsville).
Hingson receives his first conference accolade with his honorable mention recognition. After appearing in 15 games and starting in 11 games for the Brown and Gold, Hingson was second on the team with 13 caused turnovers and tied for fourth on the team with 33 ground balls. He had a single-game career-best of four ground balls three times this season; the first during the team's spring break trip at Colorado College, the second taking place in BW's road victory against Capital, and most recently in the Yellow Jackets' home victory against ONU. As a sophomore, Hingson is already 10th all-time in program history with 35 career caused turnovers. He earned his second varsity letter this spring.
Zoul earns his second career All-OAC honor this season. After playing in all 17 games for BW, he led the team and was fifth in the OAC with a career-best 146 faceoffs won. He also led the team and was fourth in the OAC with a career-best 79 ground balls collected. Zoul provided a career-best four assists and caused four turnovers for the Yellow Jackets this spring. He finished the year with a 50.3 faceoff percentage. His single-game career-best of nine ground balls comes from the team's home victory against ONU. On the all-time leaderboard, Zoul is second in faceoffs won (335) and second in faceoffs taken (788). He's also fourth all-time in career ground balls (178). Zoul earned his third varsity letter this spring.
The Yellow Jackets were crowned the 2024 OAC Regular Season Co-Champions after posting an 8-1 conference record and a 10-7 overall record. The program continues to thrive with an .842 OAC winning percentage and a .727 overall winning percentage throughout its 11-year history; notably under the helm of Head Coach Tony Tatro for the past three seasons.
