Collier, Murphy, and Torres Earn All-OAC Honors; Women's Indoor Track and Field Sits in Fourth After Day One of OAC Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team stands in fourth place after the first day of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Muskingum University.

BW is fourth of 10 teams with 27 points. University of Mount Union is first with 74 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • Junior All-OAC sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) earned her seventh indoor All-OAC honors after winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.58. Collier also qualifies for the 60-meter dash finals after finishing seventh in a time of 8.00.
  • Junior All-OAC distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) earned her 12th indoor All-OAC honors after finishing second in the 500-meter dash in a time of 1:16.19.
  • In the 60-meter dash prelims, freshman Bri Hay (Miami, Fla. / Miramar) qualifies for the finals by finishing third in a time of 7.82.

Field events highlighted:

  • Junior All-OAC thrower Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) earned her first indoor All-OAC honors after placing third in the weight throw with a distance of 14.72 meters.

On the relay side:

  • In the 4000 distance medley relay crew, freshman Alanna Barnett (Sheffield Lake / Brookside), freshman Rylee Barno (Columbus / Bexley), junior Erica Bowers (Martinsburg, W. Va. / Hedgesville), and freshman Madison Prigge (Deshler / Patrick Henry) placed eighth in a time of 13:21.96. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 24 for the second and final day of the OAC Indoor Championships. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.
