COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team continued its streak of Ohio Athletic Conference shutouts with a 9-0 victory over Capital University at the Olympic Indoor Courts.

The two teams got the match started with singles play instead of doubles. Junior All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) notched her third straight win at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. Freshman Becca Liebler (Medina), senior Academic All-OAC Kelly Peskura (Strongsville) and senior Kayla Eeg (Waterford, Pa./General McLane) brought BW (11-8, 4-3 OAC) within one point of the overall win with straight set victories at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Freshman Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and senior Shannon Finkenthal(Beachwood) both had difficult times with their Crusader (4-10, 3-4 OAC) opponents as each needed three sets in their match. Morris held a one-set lead at No. 2 singles before dropping the second set to head into a 10-point tiebreaker for the third set. The freshman held the decided advantage in the breaker set and won by scores of 6-3, 3-6, 10-3.Finkenthal was the opposite as she had to overcome a one-set deficit en route to a 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 victory at No. 4 singles.

As BW already knew it won the overall match by the end of singles play, there was less pressure on the doubles teams. All three pairings won by a score of 8-2: Robinson and freshman sister Jayde Robinson(Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) at No. 1; Morris and Liebler at No. 2; and Finkenthal and Peskura at No. 3.

The win over Capital breaks a tie for fifth place in the OAC. With the win, BW now moves into a tie for fourth place with the University of Mount Union at 4-3 while Capital drops into sole possession of sixth place. The top six teams make the postseason tournament with first round games being played on May 1.

BW will host Ohio Wesleyan University for a rescheduled non-conference match on Tuesday, April 24, at 4 p.m. at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
