BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team earned a sweep in the team's doubleheader, shutting out Muskingum 9-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference action and then defeating NCAA Division II Notre Dame College 6-3 in the second match.

As Muskingum (0-10, 0-5 OAC) was playing with a shortened lineup, only two doubles matches and four singles matches were played between the two OAC schools. BW (9-8, 2-3 OAC) won both doubles matches by scores of 8-0. In singles play, senior Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood), senior Academic All-OAC player Kelly Peskura (Strongsville), junior Kathleen Moser (Strongsville) and senior Kayla Eeg (Waterford, Pa./General McLane) played No. 1 through No. 4, respectively, and combined to only surrender one game. Eeg's win was particularly impressive as she won 6-0, 6-0 in her first competitive match since the team's spring break trip to Hilton Head.

Taking on a Division II school in Notre Dame (2-10 overall) in the second match proved to be a good test for the Yellow Jackets. As the Falcons only had five players, they had to forfeit at No. 3 doubles but were able to win No. 2 doubles 8-3 for their first point of the afternoon. BW was able to take the 2-1 advantage as junior All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) secured an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.

With another forfeit at No. 6 singles, the Yellow Jackets already held a 3-1 lead and just needed two wins to seal the team victory. Imani Robinson brought BW one point closer with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles. The junior was leading 5-2 in the second set but her Falcon opponent rallied to tie the match at 5-5; however, Imani Robinson was able to take the final two games en route to the victory while Peskura cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles to earn the Yellow Jackets' fifth point. Finkenthal was able to wrap up the night with a 7-6(4), 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.

BW will be back in action on Monday, April 16, when the Yellow Jackets host Ohio Wesleyan University for a rescheduled non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.
