BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team battled the winds and the defending Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion John Carroll University in an 8-1 loss at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

John Carroll (10-5, 4-0 OAC) took a 2-1 lead after doubles but the No. 1 doubles match proved to be the intense and drama-filled match of the day. Junior All-OAC player Imani Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) and freshman Jayde Robinson (Cincinnati/School for Creative & Performing Arts) used an early service break to hold a consistent lead throughout the match; however, a string of three consecutive breaks off both teams' rackets tied the match at 5-5. BW (7-8, 1-3 OAC) would use two additional John Carroll service breaks to seal a 8-5 win for the team's first point of the afternoon.

The Blue Streaks breezed to the overall match victory by winning all the singles matches. Imani Robinson and senior Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) put up fights at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively, as both girls lost by scores of 6-4, 6-1, while freshman Becca Liebler (Medina) won the most games in singles action in her 6-3, 6-3 loss at No. 4.

BW will return to action on Saturday, April 14, for a doubleheader at Pop Collins Tennis Courts. The Yellow Jackets will host Muskingum University in OAC play at 1 p.m. followed by a match with NCAA Division II Notre Dame College at 4:30 p.m.
