Women’s Soccer Earns Second Win of the Year Against Penn St.-Behrend

ERIE, Pennsylvania—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Penn State-Behrend, 2-1, Saturday night in their last game of the Herb Lauffer Tournament on Behrend Field.

After a late start, due to weather, The Yellow Jackets (2-0-1) controlled the first half getting six shots off, but failed to put one past the Penn State-Behrend (0-2) goaltender.

In the second half BW finally broke through when sophomore midfielder Alex Elliott (Blacklick/IMG Academy) an unassisted goat at the 47:14 mark.

The Yellow Jackets added to their lead when junior defender Kelly Gough (Hilliard/ Darby) headed in the corner kick from sophomore forward Courtney Schutz (Mentor) at the 60:10 mark.

The Lions cut the BW lead to just one at the in the 73rd minute and continued to put the pressure on the Yellow jackets defense, but failed to score again.

Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-OAC Academic Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) earned her second win of the year.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action On Tuesday, September 7 when they travel to nearby Oberlin Oberlin for a non-conference game against Oberlin College on Fred Shults Field. at 7 p.m.
