BW Women’s Soccer Gets First OAC Win in Comeback Fashion

BEREA,Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team won its third straight game and defeated Muskingum University, 3-1, in comeback fashion Saturday afternoon on Tressel Field inside of The George Finnie Stadium in its first Ohio Athletic Conference match of the season.

Muskingum (1-8-1, 0-1 OAC) tallied their only shot and the only goal of the first half when Morgan Price got behind the Yellow Jacket (7-3-2, 1-0 OAC) defense and scored in the 11th minute. BW outshot the Fighting Muskies 16-1 in the first half. 

The second half was all BW. In the 49th minute the Yellow Jackets evened the score when sophomore forward Alex Elliott (Blacklick/ IMG Academy) scored her fifth goal of the year. Junior defender Allie Lehky (Cincinnati/ Hills Christian Academy) was credited with the assist. 

BW took the lead for the first time in the game when freshman midfielder Rachel Bender (Massillon/ Jackson) scored from 15 yards out and then the Yellow Jackets put the game out of reach when junior forward Courtney Schutz (Mentor) made a move and found the back of the net.

All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-OAC Academic Senior goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa./ Fairview) improved to 7-3-2 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets next game is on Wednesday, October 7 when they host Heidelberg University in an OAC contest on Tressel Field inside Finnie Stadium at 7 p.m.
