Women’s Soccer Game Ends in Draw Versus John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team tied, Ohio Athletic Conference and cross-town rival, John Carroll University, 1-1, Wednesday afternoon on Wasmer Field inside of Don Shula Stadium.

After 45 minutes of play the game was still tied, 0-0. The Yellow Jackets (9-4-4, 3-1-2 OAC) outshot the John Carroll (4-10-2, 2-3-1 OAC) eight to five in the first half.

In the second half the Blue Streaks found the back of the net in the 78th minute, but BW evened the score just four minutes later.

Freshman forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/ Jackson) scored her, team high, 10th goal of the season. Sophomore forward Courtney Schutz (Mentor) was credited with the assist. 

Neither team could break the tie after two 10-minute overtime periods and the game ended in a, 1-1, tie.

All-OAC and All-OAC Academic senior goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) made 11 saves for the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets next game is on Saturday, October 24 when they travel to Westerville, Ohio to take on Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. inside of Memorial Stadium.
