NWCA Scholar Teams | NWCA Academic All-Americans

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar Team for the third straight season and five student-athletes earned Scholar All-American honors for their efforts in the classroom.

BW had a grade point average of 3.19 and ranked 23rd among all the Division III wrestling schools. In addition, senior 285-pounder Andrew Sierawski, senior 174-pounder (Delware/Hayes) Graham Montague (Independence, junior 197-pounder James Ritchie (Carlisle) and freshman 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) and freshman 125-pounder Nicholas Berry (Dayton/Carroll) each earned Scholar All-American honors.

"As a team we work hard both in the classroom and on mat so it is great to see us be awarded for our efforts," said sixth-year Head Coach Gibbs. "Everyday we challenge our team to to be the best student-athletes they can be and each one of them have stepped up to the challenge."

Sierawski, who garners his second straight Scholar All-American accolade, is a mathematics major and carries a 3.48 grade point average. In addition, he is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. This season on the mat he went 23-7 with two major decisions and a second place finish at the 31 Annual John Summa Invitational.

Montague, who earns his first Scholar All-American honor, is a biology major and has a 3.76 grade point average. He is also a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. On the mat Montague finished the year with a 21-10 record with seven falls. 

Ritchie, who garners his first Scholar All-American accolade, carries a 3.78 grade point average. He also a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda honor society.  Ritchie went 21-7 this season and earned a second place finish at the 31st Annual John Summa Invitational.

Nash, who earns his first Scholar All-American honor, has a 3.93 grade point average and is a Dean's List student. This season Nash had a 26-12 recorded with 11 falls and finished fourth at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.

Berry, who garners his first Scholar All-American accolade, is a computer science major and carries a 3.94 grade point average. On the mat he was 19-9 this season with nine pins and finished second in the 125-pound weight class at the 31st Annual John Summa Invitational.
