No. 9 Wrestling Team Sets School-Record with Victory Versus Muskingum

BEREA, Ohio – The ninth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team set the school-record for wins in a season with 19 victories as it posted a 39-6 Ohio Athletic Conference victory against Muskingum University in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (19-3, 3-0 OAC), who set the school-record for the third consecutive season, had records of 17-5 in 2014-15 and 18-8 in 2015-16. Muskingum (3-8, 0-4 OAC) drops its sixth straight match.

The Yellow Jackets were led by freshman 165-pounder Adam Green (Austintown/Fitch) and junior 285-pounder Andrew Sierawski (Delaware/Hayes) as each picked up victories by pinfall. Green won his match in just 59 seconds while Sierawski picked up the win at the 2:42 mark.

In addition, freshman 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk), senior Academic All-OAC 174-pounder Graham Montague (Independence) each won by technical fall.  Nash won with a 15-0 count at the end of the first period. Montague won by a score of 18-2 after two periods. Senior 149-pounder Zack Taylor (Brunswick), sophomore 157-pounder Benjamin Hooff (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) each won by major decision. Taylor won by a count of 13-5. Hooff earned the victory with a 11-3 score.

Also, senior 141-pounder Patt McGinnis (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek) won by a 5-4 decision and junior 197-pounder James Ritchie (Carlisle) won his weight class by forfeit.

BW is back in action on Friday, February 3 when it hosts Ohio Northern University for an OAC dual match in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
