No. 19 Wrestling Finishes Seventh at New Standard Corporation Invitational

YORK, Pa. – The No. 19-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling finished seventh at the New Standard Corporation Invitational hosted by No. 18 ranked York (Pa.) College inside the M&T Bank Fieldhouse.

BW finished seventh with 75.5 points in the invitational that featured 11 top-25 teams. Ithaca (N.Y.) College won the invitational with a score of 149.5 points.    

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore 184-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere) as he finished third with a 4-1 record and one fall. Lehman won his first two matches to advance to the semifinals where he lost to Mike Labell of No. 6 ranked Johnson and Wales (R.I.) University. He won his next match by a 4-2 decision and finished the day with a 12-6 decision to earn third place finish.    

In addition to Lehman, senior heavy weight Gabe Mahaney (Green) and freshman 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) each placed fifth.  Mahaney went 4-2 on the day with one pin and won the fifth place bout 6-3 decision. Nash finished the day with a 4-2 record with one major decision and won the fifth place match 6-5 decision.

Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference 125-pounder Chris Doyle (Akron/Green) finished sixth with a 2-3 record. Doyle advanced to the semifinals, but lost his final two matches which included a 10-8 loss in the fifth place bout.

BW is back in action on Saturday, December 10 when it travels to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania for the Waynesburg Duals inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse starting at 10 a.m. The Yellow Jackets will square off against the host Waynesburg University, the Apprentice School (Va.) and York at times to be announced.
