Women’s Lacrosse Cruises to OAC Opening Victory Over Muskingum

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team opened the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its scheduled as it cruised to a 14-4 victory against Muskingum University on Tressel Field inside of George Finnie Stadium.

BW (6-2, 1-0 OAC) was led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Kayla Miller (Hudson) as she scored a game-high five goals and added a game-high and career-high three assists for a game-high eight points.  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC midfielder Maddie Russell (Lakewood/Rocky River), junior attack Caitlin Wheeler (Lake Mills, Wis./Oak Park-River Forest {Ill.}) and sophomore attack Megan Patrick (Ravenna/Kent Roosevelt) all contributed two goals.  

Muskingum (4-5, 0-1 OAC) was led Ashley Adams with two goals.

The Yellow Jackets opened the game on a 7-0 run when Russell found the back of the cage at the 7:25 mark.  The Fighting Muskies scored their first goal of the game at 2:39 when Adams converted the free position.  BW closed out the first half scoring when senior All-OAC midfielder Katie Kocher (Rocky River) scored the man-up goal with 55 seconds remaining.

The Yellow Jackets used a 6-0 run to start the second half as they extended their lead to 14-1 when junior defender Taylor Giordanengo (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored her first collegiate goal at the 12:02 mark.   Muskingum closed out the scoring as it tallied the final three goals with the last coming with 1:17 remaining.

BW senior netminder Amanda Getto (Medina) picked up her sixth win of the season as she faced five shots and allowed four goals with one save.
