Women's Lacrosse Garners Fifth Straight IWLCA Academic Honor

IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad | IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll 

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse team has been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the fifth consecutive year and two individuals have been named to the 2017 Zag Sports IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll for the 2016-2017 academic year.

To be named an Academic Honor Squad a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team grade point average for the year. In order to be named to the IWLCA Honor Roll an individual must be a junior, senior or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

BW finished the year with a 3.161 GPA and were one of 300 NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA institutions to earn the honor.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll a student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. 

2017 graduates Maddie Russell (Lakewood /Rocky River) and Jenna Turner (Carmel, Ind.) were two of 531 student-athletes to be named to academic honor roll.  Russell, who graduated with a 3.959 grade point average, was a second-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American and a three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. Turner graduated with a 3.893 grade point average and was a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree.

The Yellow Jackets finished the year with an overall record of 13-4 and finished as co-champions in the OAC regular season with a record of 7-1.  The Yellow Jackets advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship game for the third time in four seasons.
