BALDWIN WALLACE ATHLETICS INFORMATION: Shaina Kovatch competed in her fourth season of cross country and track and field at Baldwin Wallace University in 2012-2013. Shaina earned her varsity letter for the fourth time in each sport.

GENERAL CROSS COUNTRY INFORMATION:  Shaina has had a solid cross country career thus far.  After overcoming her injury in her freshman year, Shaina has been a great aspect tot he B-W cross country team. 

As a freshman in 2009-2010, Shaina was injured for her first season of cross country.

As a sophomore in 2010-2011, Shaina ran in her second season of cross country.  She had a season best of 24:41 at the Calvin College Knight Invitationals placing 46th and took 9th in an open race with a time of 24:25.50.

As a junior in 2011-12, Shaina competed in her third season of cross country. Shaina had a season best race during the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational where she placed 25th with a time of 19:54.20. Look for Shaina to improve her performance for next year during cross.

As a senior in 2012-2013, Shaina will competed in her fourth year of cross country. Shaina placed 37th out of 313 total runners at the 5K which was considered the team-best at the Calvin College Invitational (Mich.) with a time of 18:58.8. She placed 8th out of 140 total runners at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship with a time of 23:39.4 which was also a team-best. Shaina lettered for her fourth time in four years of cross country.

GENERAL INDOOR TRACK INFORMATION: Shaina has had a solid start to her indoor track career.  B-W holds a 121-14 record with Shaina on the team.

As a freshman in 2009-2010, Shaina ran in her first season of indoor track.  She set a career-best time in the one mile run with a time of 5:56.28.

As a sophomore in 2010-2011, Shaina  competed in her second season of indoor track. She recorded a season best of 11:12.01 in the 3,000 meter-run and 19:13.14 in the 5,000 meter-run at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, look for Shaina to compete during outdoor season this spring.

As a junior in 2011-2012, Shaina competed in her third season of indoor track. She had a season best in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:13.03 at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Shaina also had a team and career best in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:27.46 which placed her fifth at the OAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. She also set a new career best mark in the 1 mile run at the Greater Cleveland College Championship with a time of 5:40.12.

As a senior in 2012-2013, Shaina competed in her fourth season of indoor track. She ran the 5000 meter with a team-best time of 18:59.68 at the Fighting Scots Invitational.  

GENERAL OUTDOOR TRACK INFORMATION: Shaina has had a solid career thus far in outdoor track.  The Yellow Jackets have carried a 115-14 record since Shaina has joined the Brown and Gold.

As a freshman in 2009-2010, Shaina competed in her first season of outdoor track.  She set career best times in the 1500-meter run at 5:23.11, the 5000-meter run at 20:13.04, and the 10,000-meter run in a time of 41:57.56.

As a sophomore in 2010-2011, Shaina competed in her second season of outdoor track. Shaina ran season-best times of 19:15.88 in the 5000-meter run as well as 40:54.32 in the 10,000-meter run.

As a junior in 2011-12, Shaina competed in her third season of ourdoor track.  Shaina ran career-best times in all three events she ran this spring.  In the 1500-meter run she posted a 5:15.70 at the Sparky Adams Invatational.  In the 5000-meter run, Shaina recorded an 18:28.54 when she competed at the OAC Gold Meet.  Shaina also ran in the 10000-meter run and had her best time of the season at the OAC Outdoor Championship meet where she crossed the finishline in 38:19.84.

As a senior in 2012-2013, Shaina competed in her fourth season of outdoor track and field. Shaina ran the 3000-meter race with a team-best time of 11:03.8 at the 2013 Sparky Adams Invitational. She also had team-bests in the 5000 meter with a time of 18:36.57 and the 10,000 meter run with a time of 38:24.05. Shaina lettered for the fourth time in four years.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Shaina Kovatch grew up in  Parma, Ohio and graduated from Parma-Valley Forge High School. Shaina ran track and cross country for four years and earned four varsity letters in both sports.

In cross country, Shaina was All-Pioneer Conference and a Regional Qualifer in 2006 as a sophomore.  As a junior, she was All-Northeast Ohio Conference and a Regional Qualifier.  As a senior, she was All-NOC and a Regional Qualifier.  In track as a senior, she was All-NOC and qualified for Regionals in the 3200 meters.  She was named Valley Forge's Female Athlete of the Year in 2009.
